Is there a way to automatically measure grain size where twins are present?

Samples with a large number of twins, such as copper or brass, are not easy for an image analysis system. The best way to measure this type of material is to use the intercept (Heyn) method. However, under some circumstances we can develop a fully automatic routine - based on a correlation factor between the inadequately detected grain boundaries and the correct manual Heyn results.
